Support Call Volunteers:

Whilst women are on the waiting list for our counselling sessions, our volunteer team provide them with a monthly support call. This is a chance for women to have a chat about their circumstances, and to be listened to and validated. The support calls are also an opportunity for women to be referred to other services we provide. This role requires excellent listening skills, a significant understanding of sexual violence and how women respond to it, and detailed knowledge of our services at SRC. Good IT skills are required. This role is Ipswich based and is Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7-9pm.

Helpline Volunteers:

Suffolk Rape Crisis provides a free, anonymous, and confidential helpline to women (inside and outside of Suffolk) to contact where they can be listened to, believed, and not judged. These calls may be regular chats or may be women in crisis. This role requires you to have excellent listening skills, a significant understanding of sexual violence and how women respond to it. Good IT skills are required. This role is Ipswich based and is Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7-9pm.

Group work Volunteers:

SRC has expanded to provide two online groups for survivors. We are now looking for women to help facilitate these sessions. This role requires further training on sexual violence, working in online spaces, working with trauma and excellent IT skills are required. This role will take place during the day, but times may vary.

Casual Volunteers:

Working at SRC is a real community effort, and sometimes we have projects or odds and ends jobs that we need completing! Previous examples have ranged from shredding documents, emailing out to local companies, staffing events and casual admin. This role requires a can do attitude and understanding of SRC’s policies and procedures, alongside a willingness to learn new skills.

TRUSTEES:

Our Trustees are responsible for maintaining our organization and making strategic decisions about our objectives and aims.
