Session 1 (including Introduction) Tuesday 7th June 2022 6:00-9pm

Session 2: Saturday 11th June 10-4pm

Session 3: Thursday 16th June 6:30-9pm

Session 4: Thursday 7th July 6:30-9pm

Additional training (relevant for Support Call and Helpline Volunteers). 

Day 1: Saturday 16th July 10-4pm

Day 2: Thursday 28th July 6:30-9pm

Shadowing sessions: 21st June OR 23rd June / 12th July OR 14th June

Please note that Saturday sessions are held in our Ipswich Office, all other sessions will be held on Zoom.

Suffolk Rape Crisis is recruiting for volunteers!

If you are passionate about gender equality and ending violence against women and girls and you are eager to learn, it could be for you! 

If you are:

  • Willing to learn about the impacts of sexual violence on survivors.
  • Wanting to use your skills to make a difference?
  • Good at communicating with strong interpersonal skills?
  • Aged 18 +
  • Able to complete online training?
  • Able to travel into our Ipswich office ?

Support Call Volunteers:

Whilst women are on the waiting list for our counselling sessions, our volunteer team provide them with a monthly support call. This is a chance for women to have a chat about their circumstances, and to be listened to and validated. The support calls are also an opportunity for women to be referred to other services we provide. This role requires excellent listening skills, a significant understanding of sexual violence and how women respond to it, and detailed knowledge of our services at SRC. Good IT skills are required. This role is Ipswich based and is Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7-9pm.

 

Helpline Volunteers:

Suffolk Rape Crisis provides a free, anonymous, and confidential helpline to women (inside and outside of Suffolk) to contact where they can be listened to, believed, and not judged. These calls may be regular chats or may be women in crisis. This role requires you to have excellent listening skills, a significant understanding of sexual violence and how women respond to it. Good IT skills are required. This role is Ipswich based and is Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7-9pm.

Admin Volunteers:

Working at SRC is a real community effort, and sometimes we have projects or odds and ends jobs that we need completing! Previous examples have ranged from shredding documents, emailing out to local companies, staffing events and casual admin. This role requires a can do attitude and understanding of SRC’s policies and procedures, alongside a willingness to learn new skills.

Group Facilitator Volunteers:

Here at SRC, we run a variety of groups to support women. We are currently looking for volunteers who would like to join our team and help facilitate our eight week Empowerment Programme. This role requires a commitment to our feminist approach to violence against women and girls. We are particularly interested to hear from you if you have previously completed our Empowerment course.

Social Media Volunteers: 

SRC has expanded significantly over the past year, and we have built up a strong online presence. We are now looking for women to join us in maintaining our online presence, scheduling our posts across Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and thinking creatively about how to get our message to the world. Experience of Canva is required, alongside a strong understanding of social media platforms, scheduling software.

Treasurer:

Our Trustees are responsible for maintaining our organisation and making strategic decisions about our objectives and aims. 

We are currently looking for a Treasurer, to oversee the financial affairs of Suffolk Rape Crisis and work alongside our Board of Trustees in safeguarding the finances of the organisation.

  • We are looking for someone with the following experience and abilities:
  • Experienced in financial management, ideally at a senior level 
  • Preferably holds a recognised accountancy qualification, though not essential (operational financial experience is essential)
  • Ability to oversee maintenance of proper financial records and procedures 
  • Advising on, and supporting, the organisations financial strategy 
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports, accounts 

 If you are:

  • A strong team player?
  • Passionate about gender equality and ending Violence Against Women and Girls?
  • Wanting to use your skills to make a difference?
  • Skilled in, financial management, fundraising, recruitment and management, or marketing
