Reclaim The Night 2020
After 16 incredible days of activism, yesterday we ended with our very first virtual Reclaim The Night March!

So, we finished The 16 Days with Virtual March, held via Zoom! Our tech woman Ellie got us ready, and as the uplifting words of Lizzo and the throwback to No Doubt’s Just A Girl streamed into the Zoom call, we got ready to virtually Reclaim some space! We first heard from Issy, who runs Reclaim The Night, alongside Amy Roch, Director at SRC! Then from Tonia at Volunteering Matters, before some performance poetry from Lanai Collins! We finished with a self care check out, with our online outreach worker Kat!
We asked women: ‘Why is Reclaim The Night so important?’
Reclaim The Night is important to me to highlight our strength and solidarity! It is a privilege to be here with you all!
Reclaim The Night is important to me because it gives us all an opportunity to come together and feel that sense of community which has been so lacking in 2020!
Reclaim The Night is important to me because it lets survivors like myself know you aren’t alone, people do care, I have a community despite my trauma.
Reclaim The night is important to get over the message that every woman has the absolute right to be safe at home, in the street, everywhere.
Reclaim The Night is important as we need to come together to bust the myths that contribute to violence against women!!
Reclaim the night is important to me because it shows that no matter how small the change, we are still fighting for it! Feeling so empowered with everyone tonight!
Reclaim the night is important to me as every woman has the right to be safe anytime
Reclaim The Night is important to me because it gives me an opportunity to learn
Reclaim The Night is important because it reminds us there is still work to do
Reclaim The Night is important to me because it shows that I am not alone and shows people are standing up for women and girls
I think Reclaim The Night is important because these issues need to be shouted about, people need to be reminded that women and girls aren’t safe the issue isn’t going away.
Reclaim The Night is important to me because it reminds me that I am not alone and I can march side by side, empowered and motivated to do more to create change.
